Preproduction, Design
and Engineering
Pre-production and Design is usually 14 to 20 percent
of a project and on average will take 2 to 3 weeks of
project time. After receiving the concept from a customer
and fully understanding the customer's specifications
and needs this department gets to work.
Reading data from all file formats (IGS, PRT, SAT, X-T,
SolidWorks 2000, STEP, DWG, DXF, CAD-L) solid modeling
and wire-frame data is produced and with the new technology
of SLA (stero-lithography), the department can do all
the pre-design that is needed for a mold before machining
the first piece.
The greater part of the CPI knowledge base resides in
this department. Our experience with all types of molds
and production processes will allow you to reduce your
development costs. You may not have come across the
pitfalls of molding but CPI has and they have overcome
them - for your benefit!
Value-Added Production
Value-added production is the term that CPI uses to
describe the processes that enhance the production of
molded parts. It may be pad-printing the part, machining
the part or assembling it, the end result is an integrated
service for the customer.
In many cases the value-added process will maximize
production and cost effectiveness. One example of this
is a process contained in one of CPI's manufacturing
cells where the use of 'cooling fixtures' ensures that
parts will cool down outside the heated mold, guaranteeing
mold consistency and shorter cycle times which also
maximizes production and profit.
All value-added processes take place within CPI's manufacturing
cells, each formed around a mold machine. Taking advantage
of the operators' idle time during a machine cycle ensures
full productivity and more production.
Tooling Manufacture
CPI has expertise to build molds, over ten years of
experience has gone into the knowledge base and CPI
has an intimate understanding of both the potential
and limitations of the materials. |
